Me: How old are you?
Henry: I would prefer not to disclose. -pause- Okay, fine! I'm 10 1/2
M: What are your thoughts on life?
H: People are not the best that that they could be. I mean, they start wars and have millions of dollars and they don't give any to me. So yeah, people are not the best that they could be.
M: What could you do, personally, to make someone's life better?
H: I could do a community service, or give them some old McDonalds toys that I don't want anymore.
M: What's your favorite thing?
H: My ability to read.
M: Any funny childhood memories?
H: I remember one time at a hospital I ran into the wrong room.
M: Do you have a favorite memory?
H: When we got the dogs.
M: Do you have a least favorite memory?
H: This one time I got a sliver on a fence. All that kind of jazz.
M: Preferred method of transportation?
H: Teleporter.
M: Your ideal meal.
H: Aldi pizzas with hot sauce. And lemon Mixade.
M: What do you want to be when you grow up?
H: A robotics technician.
M: What do they do?
H: They program robots, and make robots, and do things with robots!

Through The Eyes Of A First Grader
Me: Grace, what are you're thoughts on life?
Grace: Hmm. I like it!
M: Why?
G: Cuz it's awesome! P.S. I smell cookies.
M: Umm, okay. How old are you?
G: I am six years old.
M: Do you like being six?
G: Sometimes.
M: How are you feeling?
G: Sick. :P
M: Any favorite childhood memories?
G: A lightbulb fell on my head. P.S. It's not one of my favorites.
M: I kind of figured. Any actual favorite memories?
G: No. Not really.
M: What are you going to do today?
G: Watch Pride and Prejudice.
M: Do you like Pride and Prejudice?
G: -really scary, evil voice- YES!
M: Why do you keep saying 'P.S.'?
G: I DON'T KNOW!
M: What did you do yesterday?
G: I forget.
M: Oh.
G: Now can the interview be over?
M: Almost. What grade are you in this year?
G: 1st.
M: Do you like getting to do school?
G: Yea...
M: What's your favorite part?
G: Math.
M: Really? Why?
G: Cuz I have Fred.
M: What's Fred?
G: Fred's a math book. It teaches you about math.
M: Okay, the interview can be over now. (She had already run out of the room at this point)

Fighting The Sickness
Henry and Grace are sick. Really sick. Henry hasn't been able to talk the past few days because of his sore throat, and Grace can't even go a few minutes without coughing up a lung.
I am not sick (yet). This whole week I've been trying to stay healthy. I've been taking any kind of Vitamin C I can get my hands on, I've been exercising, sleeping as much as I can, I've even been taking daily doses of my mom's homemade 'Tonic' (us kids secretly call it 'Toxic') .
All this so I won't be sick today (Friday) so I can go to Teen Retreat, and hopefully not make other people sick.
There's another kind of sickness.
I'm sinful. Really sinful. I'm unable to stay healthy and I can't even go a few minutes without sinning (make that a few seconds). No one can.
If I could try to stay away from sin as much as I've been trying to stay away from germs this past week, my faith would be so much stronger. Every aspect of my life would change for the better.
But it's impossible to avoid sin completely.
I'm always in the presence of sin.
Just like how lately I've always been in the presence of sickness. Even as I'm typing this, Henry is blowing his nose right behind me, and Grace is having a cough attack in the other room.
-Update on V.E.T., the first real one should be up this Tuesday, my video editor is working, and I've decided to just use my old camera, even though the quality isn't that great.-

Blankets And Other Things
I know this isn't really a crafty type blog, but I came up with this simple pattern and I absolutely LOVE how it turned out!
Supplies:
Several (I'm not exactly sure how much, I had a large stash of yarn and I just used up random balls I found, if you want stripes, one skein per stripe is plenty) skeins of medium-heavy weight yarn. (I LOVE Lion Brands Homespun collection, which is what I used to make these blankets)
Size 10-11 Knitting Needles
1. Cast on 5 sts
2. K2, yo, knit to the end of row
Repeat step 2 until your blanket is HALF the size you would like it to be.
3. K2, yo, K2tog, K2tog
Repeat step 3 until you have 5 sts remaining.
4. Bind off
These knit up really fast, and are really warm. :)
Other things you can make using this method of making squares are patchwork blankets.
Potholders (Which can double as washcloths)(Note: DON'T use 100% Acrylic yarn for this, it will melt [Also, for this project, use two strands of medium weight yarn at once on size 8 needles for durability])
You can also sew patches together to make scarves, bags, etc. etc. Get creative! It's really easy, and so much fun. :)
Note: I found this in 'drafts' from about a year ago, hence the lack of pictures. I still have a post scheduled for tomorrow. :)

Grr.
Okay, so this video doesn't have audio. I only tried to film it ten times.
Basically what I'm saying in the video is that I'm testing out a camera I got from my aunt. For some reason, the video setting only takes videos -without audio :P- for 30 seconds.
I also mentioned that my video editor hasn't been working. At all. :(
I'm hoping to figure it out by next week, because I hope to have some good footage (hopefully with audio this time ;) ).
So, until then, enjoy watching the tenth try of a one take, thirty second video.

P.S. I just noticed my glasses are reeaally crooked. *facepalm*

Bloggers
There are several types of Bloggers in the internet universe.
The writers. These Bloggers express their feelings and opinions in an essay format. They usually go through spurts of ideas that they type up for scheduled posts. They like big words, have notebooks full of ideas, dreams, hopes and fears.
The updaters. These bloggers like to update their blog frequently with pictures of them with family and friends, stories of their most recent adventures. They like to share (and sometimes explain) inside jokes.
The commenters. These bloggers don't have alot of posts on their blog, but have quite a few followers. They LOVE the 'Next Blog' button, and click it relentlessly. Every new blog that pops up is a new opportunity to comment and promote their blog. They also have a tendency to follow blogs and never check them again.
The promisers. These bloggers have many notebooks, just like the writers. However, these notebooks are filled with new ideas and plans that are rarely fulfilled. These bloggers also promise new plans for their blog and forget about them.
The designers. These bloggers create new blogs just for the thrill of having a blank slate. They don't worry about the content of their blog as much as the layout. thecutestblogontheblock is their homepage. (Note, that had autocorrected to Australopithecus at first)
Which one are you? Let me know in the comments. :) Also, if you think of any others, leave those in the comments also.
Note: I'm all of the above, I wrote out each one of these from my own experience, I was NOT making fun of any of the blogs I follow.

I was planning on filming for V.E.T. today.
Then I killed my camera.
I dropped it from the stairs.
I'll still film tonight, you guys can get some insight into what my Christmas Eve's are like. (Interesting, to say the least ;) ) But the quality will be not as great as I was hoping.
See you Tuesday! :D
~Maddi
Quick Christmas fact #1: Did you know in the song '12 Days of Christmas', five golden rings is actually talking about ring necked pheasants? Somewhere in the translations the actually definition got mixed up.

January
Okay, so next Saturday I'm not going to do a blog post, being it's going to be Christmas Eve and all.
In January I'm going to start a new schedule, and I'm going to stick with it.
I"m going to do a normal blog post every Saturday.
On Tuesdays, however, i'm going to start something new.
V.E.T. Vlog. Every. Tuesday.
This is where I post a video of what I've been up to, or I'll rant about something, or I'll just do something random. ;)
